February Music Writing Exercise

This February I am embarking on a daily writing challenge called the Music Writing Exercise or #MWE. To participate I will need to listen to a new album, one I have never listened to before, each day. Then I need to write a few sentences about that album and post them. I’ll be doing this on Twitter and here on the blog.

I’m really excited to do this because it’s forcing me to do some things I’ve struggled with over the last few months, listening to music, particularly new music, and writing. My hope is that with this structure in place I can retrain myself to listen critically and then produce cogent and coherent thoughts about something.

Here are the albums I’ll be listening to. It’s a mix of artists I’ve heard of but never listened to, some artists that are completely new to me, and a couple of new albums by established faves I haven’t yet gotten around to listening to.

I think this will be fun - I hope you enjoy it as much as I think I will.
